A sinners prayer
by Victoria Rose
Dear god,
I’ve lived and I’ve learned,
I’ve lost and I’ve earned,
I’ve made every mistake one can make
I ate a fruit off a tree and I’ve danced with a snake.
My hands are all dirty,
My betraying lips are bleeding and burning.
I killed my own brother through envy and hate,
I denied you three times and left you forsake.
I can’t say I’m sorry, those words aren’t enough,
But someone once told me you died for all of us.
I once read somewhere in a book that you’re merciful and forgiving,
Hopefully someday soon I’ll be pure and re-living.
I’m confessing to you all that I’ve done,
Take me off this path I’ve walked and lead me to the right one.
I give you the rest of me for little in return,
For your love and goodness is all I yearn.
