raindrops patter upon my window
drizzling thoughts of you
grey clouds upon a backdrop of an uneasy sky
a torrential downpour of questioning
flooded crevices of weeping memories
there is a fatidic sense of life’s placement
umbrellas can deflect the drops
but we all get drenched in the end
each puddle hides and drowns a different truth
we tend to stamp them out, or jump them altogether
the sun takes his break in silence
graciously accepting the dreary presence
the peaceful stay inside, the restless search and struggle
there are many ways to avoid the rain
but we all get drenched in the end
