 	 I watna what they ca’d him;
He play’d our cousin Kate a spring
  	When fient a body bade him;
And aye the mair he hotch’d an’ blew,
 	The mair that she forbade him.

Пришёл из Файфа музыкант,
	Пришёл, и дунул в дудку,
И в тот же миг в кузину Кэт
	Влюбился не на шутку.

Чем больше он просил, влюблён,
	И колдовал на дудке,
Тем строже «Нет!» – звучал ответ:
	Мол, дудки, парень, дудки!
