TEMPORARY AND NOW
by PEGGY AYLSWORTH
Discard has a melancholy sound,
as rust sets in,
even
the graffiti too much like weeds.
Into the junk yard,
in favor of bluer skies.
Make it new, said Pound,
quoting a Chinese emperor.
New clothes
New car
New rings and things
New lover
New and better tooth paste
Alas, the glitter and glitz
is merely landscape,
trying
for a magical view
to stave off…
And yet…
the coral trees
come round again…not new
but
out of their sameness
inscape
bursting through
the blossoms.
