climbing the hill i reach the top…the view is so desolate
i sit here contemplating the plight we all ignored to the end
the demise occured when we took our surroundings for granted
then i wonder where have we all gone
i look around the empty skies and wonder…where are the birds
the ones who sang to me once or captured my imagination
the aerial antics of courtship a mating pair displayed to impress
then i wonder where have we all gone
i view my surroundings…all is empty now…no creatures around
nothing to stimulate imaginations…to spark my interest anymore
all is bare…empty…lonely…no beauty to be seen…i am so alone
then i wonder where have we all gone
there is nothing left but bare rocks and sandy soil…so desolate
nothing to call home…nothing to share my world with…all is gone
i am the last of everything…there is no more…there never will be
then i wonder where have we all gone
as the sun beats down on me…i realize how thirsty i am…there is no water
no shelter from the sun or elements around…everything is decayed now
soon i’ll be extinct…as the rest…species…plants…animals…even the cities gone
then i wonder where have we all gone
